Kevin Smith Gives Update on His Masters of the Universe Series for Netflix

Netflix has pretty much brought back the Eternia franchise with She-Ra and the Princesses of Power, and now they've hired Kevin Smith to breathe new life into He-Man and the Masters of the Universe. We don't have any official promos yet, but Smith himself has shared some updates via a Facebook post.

Check it out:

The show is apparently titled Masters of the Universe: Revelation, and is said to pick-up right where the original series left off. Like I said, we don't have any official promos yet, but if the series is already in the works now, I bet we could be getting a look sometime in the middle of 2020.

Personally, I always thought that Smith's strengths came with his more "Slice of Life" films like Clerks, and I'm not sure how he would fair when it comes to these sprawling sci-fi worlds. Then again, I'm a huge fan of his, and I wonder what kind of spin he would have when it comes to something as relevant to pop-culture as He-Man.

Here's the official synopsis:

"A radical return to Eternia, Revelation is a direct sequel series to the classic era of Masters of the Universe. Featuring fan favorites He-Man, Orko, Cringer, and Man-At-Arms, the story pits our heroic warriors and guardians of Castle Grayskull against Skeletor, Evil-Lyn, Beast Man and the vile legions of Snake Mountain! But after a ferocious final battle forever fractures Eternia, it's up to Teela to solve the mystery of the missing Sword of Power in a race against time to prevent the end of the Universe! Her journey will uncover the secrets of Grayskull at last. This is the epic He-Man and the Master of the Universe saga fans have waited 35 years to see!"

No release date has been set for Masters of the Universe: Revelations, but you can check out Smith's Jay and Silent Bob Reboot in theaters today.
