How Did Crystal Lose Her Memories? Meet Her Ghost Ex, David
Crystal Palace (played by Kassius Nelson) is one of the most mystical yet intriguing characters in Netflix's Dead Boy Detectives.
Apart from the fact that she's a psychic who helps Charles and Edwin on their cases, she also happens to have quite a few stories herself. One of these is her "ghost ex", David the Demon (The Summer I Turned Pretty's David Iacono).
David is an "ex" in the sense that she used to possess Crystal's body and was the ghost who stole her memories from her.
While Crystal freed herself from his abusive grasp using the Light of Heart, she lost her memories in the process. How does she gain them back?

Crystal Gains Her Memories Back in Edible Spheres
Crystal's lost memories are a huge deal to the psychic, it robs her of what makes her who she truly is at present and her identity altogether.
However, fret not, she gets her memories back in Dead Boy Detectives episode 7.
When Crystal asks for David's help to get to hell to save Edwin, she is given two choices: hurt Jenny to save Edwin or leave Edwin to save Jenny.
Thanks to Crystal's newfound powers from her ancestors, she uses them to defeat David and gains her memories from the edible spheres she just has to consume.
After digesting the edibles, she finds out that her real name is Crystal Palace Von Hoverkraft, aka a "cruel kleptomaniac" who used her powers for her own gain.
Perhaps in a way, losing her memories had given her a chance to start over her life, especially now that she has new powers in controlling someone else's minds.
