Black Panther Chadwick Boseman Stars in Trailer for Spike Lee's Da 5 Bloods

Last April a lot of fans had gotten concerned about Black Panther star Chadwick Boseman because of some dramatic weight loss. As it turns out, it could be for this film from Spike Lee called Da 5 Bloods. We just got a new trailer, and Boseman looks to be at the center of the movie.

Here's the official description:

From Academy Award® Winner Spike Lee comes a New Joint: the story of four African-American Vets — Paul (Delroy Lindo), Otis (Clarke Peters), Eddie (Norm Lewis), and Melvin (Isiah Whitlock, Jr.) — who return to Vietnam. Searching for the remains of their fallen Squad Leader (Chadwick Boseman) and the promise of buried treasure, our heroes, joined by Paul's concerned son (Jonathan Majors), battle forces of Man and Nature — while confronted by the lasting ravages of The Immorality of The Vietnam War.

As you can see, Boseman looks significantly skinny in this film, and it makes a lot of sense, seeing as he's playing a young soldier fighting in the Vietnam War. We don't know the full extent of the story, but the movie looks to be drawing a lot of elements from Apocalypse Now, and no doubt there's going to be some more social commentary, especially when it came to the black soldiers during that time of the war.

Back in April when fans had gotten a look at Boseman, a lot of people were concerned about weight loss. It's great to know that it was actually just for a role. If anything, Boseman seems to be skinny in his natural state, and he puts on the weight for the roles like T'Challa in Black Panther.

It's going to be a while before we get Black Panther 2, but you can catch Boseman in Da 5 Bloods when it hits Netflix on June 12.
