Furiosa premiered at the Cannes Film Festival to critical acclaim. The film’s cast, including the young Furiosa actress Alyla Browne, was praised for their performances. Aside from her compelling performance on-screen, how Alyla Browne’s mom predicted her daughter’s Furiosa role is also quite a story.
At Cannes, it was revealed that Browne’s role as the younger counterpart of Anya Taylor-Joy was something her mom foresaw while she got a big break in director George Miller’s previous film.
Alyla Browne’s Big Breaks Before Her Turn as Furiosa
Alyla Browne is a fourteen-year-old Australian actress who has gotten a couple of big roles in notable projects alongside some of the most esteemed Hollywood actresses.
For instance, Browne played the daughter of Nicole Kidman in Hulu’s Nine Perfect Strangers. Then, she played Sigourney Weaver’s granddaughter in The Lost Flowers of Alice Hart from Amazon Studios.
Perhaps her most important role so far is playing the young version of Tilda Swinton in George Miller’s Three Thousand Years of Longing.
Even though her role in Miller’s previous film wasn’t the biggest, it proved pivotal in landing her the job of playing a young Furiosa.
In a report by Variety, it was revealed that Miller saw Browne doing middle splits in between takes. Browne mentioned that she did so as she used to do gymnastics.
At that moment, Miller thought to himself that Browne looked like a young Furiosa. Interestingly, Miller wasn’t the first one to think so.

Alyla Browne’s Mom Accurately Predicted Her Daughter’s Future Furiosa Role
Ahead of landing the Three Thousand Years of Longing role, Browne’s mother wished that her daughter would get cast.
Interestingly, the reason that she wished for it was that she already had Miller’s upcoming Furiosa movie in mind.
Even though there weren’t a lot of details about the film at the time, Browne’s mom already predicted that a kid role would be needed in the film and that her daughter would be a perfect fit.
This prediction turned out to be incredibly accurate. What’s more, it was a huge role for Browne given how the young Furiosa plays a big role in the film.

Young Furiosa Actress Explains How Long She Appears On-Screen
As Browne mentioned at Cannes, the young Furiosa appears in the first two parts of the movie which is itself divided into five parts.
Given how big her role is, Browne had to shoot plenty of scenes in the Australian outback. Despite how grueling it is, Browne had only positive things to say about the movie given her love for post-apocalyptic fiction.
Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga is coming to theaters on May 24.
