Lycoris Recoil: What's It All About?
Lycoris Recoil follows Chisato Nishikigi, a bubbly cafe worker, and Takina Inoue, her serious colleague at Cafe LycoReco.
At this cafe, customer orders can range from things you could usually get on a normal coffee run, like drinks and sweets, to ones that are less normal... or safe, for that matter.
Chisato and Takina, along with the cafe's other staff members, keep the city in a constant state of peace with the double lives they're living, where they serve coffee and fight off bad guys when needed.
Episode 1 of Lycoris Recoil showed Chisato and Takina's first meeting after the latter was reassigned to Cafe LycoReco. Fans who thought it was going to be a normal slice-of-life anime with Cute Girls Doing Cute Things (CGDCT) were in for a welcome surprise.
The pilot episode went right into the girls having a gunfight with terrorists which effectively painted the contrast between Chisato and Takina. This, too, was another surprise as Chisato turned out to be the more calculated fighter between the two.
Fans had virtually nothing bad to say about LycoReco's premiere, and it's expected to be one of the most watched-out for anime of the season if it keeps up with the pace it's established.
