John Cena Has Begun Shooting For The Suicide Squad

It looks like a professional wrestler and actor John Cena has just begun shooting his scenes for the DC Extended Universe's The Suicide Squad.

Taking to Instagram this week, The Suicide Squad director James Gunn decided to post a photo of a Suicide Squad comic book that he received as a gift from his agent. The post was innocent enough, but in the comments section of the post, a fan decided to ask the Guardians of the Galaxy director whether Bumblebee, Blockers, and Trainwreck actor John Cena would be joining the shoot of The Suicide Squad soon.

Gunn didn't hold out, confirming that Cena had already begun shooting scenes for the upcoming DC movie.

"Great gift for the start of shooting from my agent and friend Charlie - the first-ever appearance of a very different Suicide Squad in Brave & the Bold 25 (the Justice League would debut in the same comic just 3 issues later). #TheSuicideSquad," Gunn wrote in his post.

Gunn has yet to confirm the role that Cena is playing, but there are rumors going around saying that the wrestler is going to play Peacemaker, a superhero soldier who loves peace so much that he's willing to kill for peace. The character was originally a pacifist diplomat that used non-lethal weapons on missions, however, over time, Peacemaker turned into a more violent vigilante.

Cena will be joining Margot Robbie (Harley Quinn), Joel Kinnaman (Rick Flag), Jai Courtney (Captain Boomerang), Viola Davis (Amanda Waller) together with DC newcomers like Michael Rooker, Idris Elba, Peter Capaldi, Nathan Fillion, Sean Gunn, Taika Waititi, David Dastmachian, and Storm Reid.

The Suicide Squad is set to premiere on August 6, 2021.
