Black Panther star Winston Duke has expressed his interest to play Batman in James Gunn's DCU franchise.

DC Studios is currently working on The Brave and the Bold movie which will serve as the first solo Batman movie in the DCU and a new actor is expected to take on the role.

So far, no casting has been made yet for the DCU's Caped Crusader, but a couple of actors have campaigned for the role including one of the stars from the MCU.

In a recent interview, Duke, who is known for playing M'Baku in the Black Panther films, opened up about wanting to play Batman in the DCU and asked for fans to campaign on his behalf.

He notably voiced the Caped Crusader in the audio drama podcast series Batman: Unburied.

"Listen, man, can you start that [campaign]? [Laughs] I would say I challenge you to get on all these socials and push for me. Get your community. I would love to. I would love to do that as Batman," he said.

"I'd love any opportunity to explore new characters, to change narratives around some of these entrenched ideas of how these characters are supposed to look, sound, and perform. I'm all for it."

There are fans who might support the idea since Duke has proven that he has the talent and physique to pull off the role although it will also be a different take on the character that we've never seen from the other actors.

It is interesting to see whether Duke's campaign will play out and more fans will support the idea on social media or we'll hear a very different name emerging as the main contender instead.

There are a lot of actors who could definitely pull off the role of Batman in the DCU, but in the end, it's all up to what kind of take Gunn has in mind for the character in his franchise.
