The Kaiju No. 8 anime continues to be one of the most-watched shows of the season. Soon, fans will also be treated to a new project, as the Kaiju No. 8 Relax manga spinoff has just been announced.
This upcoming spinoff was revealed in the latest issue of Shueisha’s Saikyo Jump, a monthly shonen magazine. There, details about the new spinoff’s start date were revealed.
With Relax, Kaiju No. 8 shows that it is not stopping with its expansion plans anytime soon. After all, there have already been many spinoffs released since the main manga began serialization.
All Kaiju No. 8 Spinoffs, Explained
Kaiju No. 8 started as a Shonen Jump+ manga by Naoya Matsumoto, and it continues to get new chapters every two weeks.
Soon, it became one of the most popular titles on Jump+ alongside titles such as Spy x Family and Dandadan. Thus, it’s no surprise that the series got an anime adaptation from Production I.G.
The anime adaptation premiered in April, and it has since become one of the season’s most popular shows. For fans who can’t get enough though, there are also two major spinoffs.
To start, there’s the Kaiju No. 8: B-Side manga, which began serialization on Shonen Jump+ in January 2024.
As the title implies, the B-Side spinoff features side stories starring the other members of the Defense Force.
Much like the original manga, this spinoff is also serialized in English through Manga Plus and Viz Media’s Shonen Jump.
There’s also the Kaiju No. 8: Exclusive on the Third Division light novel that was released in November 2022 in Japan.
This four-chapter novel is another side story, and it is set to be released in English sometime this season by Viz Media.

New Kaiju No. 8 Relax Manga Spinoff Gets June Release Date
If those spinoffs aren’t enough to satisfy fans, Kaiju No. 8 Relax is coming this June. While there are not a lot of details about the spinoff, its title does give us a good idea of what to expect.
Unlike the more action-packed main series, this spinoff will likely feature more chill parts of the story. It may explore the Defense Force members’ lives outside of combat.
What is confirmed is that the new manga spinoff will be released in Japan on Saikyo Jump’s next issue, which will be released on June 4, 2024.
For now, there’s no word on English release plans. Given how the other spinoffs have official English releases, it’s likely that this one will also be available outside of Japan at some point.
